Summary vs Executive summary

Often, the recipients are flooded with information and will not read in detail a long email. A summary will guide them trough the topic. 

Executive summary could be an entire email that describes

What is the purpose? Getting a decision, having approval on a certain option, getting additional resources via escalation etc. 

What is the problem? short summary of the problem in analysis

What are the explored options?

short description of the analysis process and the options considered. 

What is the recommendation?
